Best Spa Resort in Egypt

1-1-11A holiday along the Red Sea Coast that stretches from the Suez to the border of Sudan is one of the most idyllic ones you can ever imagine. Tourism thrives in the region, and several resorts have come up in the settlements in and around Hurghada, Port Safaga, El-Quseir and Marsa Alam. Sahl Hasheesh is a town that is 20 km south of Hurghada and offers everything a tourist looks for along the Red Sea. Sahl Hasheesh is actually a fully integrated resort community.

In the arms of luxury

So, when a couple of friends and I checked in to The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh, one of the best luxury resorts in Egypt, we knew what to expect. We were in the arms of luxury, as we entered the resort which has a private beach. We were shown our suite, which was synonymous with luxury, and had a sunken bath, walk-in shower and even a private courtyard. We stayed in a deluxe suit, of which there are 63. Then, there are 21 superior deluxe suits, six royal suites and 12 grand suites, with private swimming pools in the latter.

One of the finest 5 star hotels in Egypt, this hotel has won several travellers’ choice awards over the years and has even been rated the best resort on the Red Sea by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism at least thrice. The restaurants here serve international cuisine, but if you are into Indian food, you will love Zaafran which dishes out Indian fare of the very best quality.

Exploring the region

While in Sahl Hasheesh, there are many wonders to experience and lots of fun to be had. And so, we set out on a day trip to Luxor, enjoying the sights along the way. The ancient monuments and temples of Egyptian civilization makes you feel as if you are time travelling, going several centuries back in history. Also, during your stay at Sahl Hasheesh, you could go scuba diving and snorkelling or take camel rides along the Hurghada desert and make that unforgettable dive into Sunken City and explore underwater life.

Refreshing spa treatment

After all the adventure and travelling along the region, we got back to our hotel and guess where we headed to, for relaxation. No prizes for guessing, yes, the luxury spa, one of the very best in the country. I booked my time for the ‘Spirit of the Pharaoh’ ritual, which lasts for over four hours. It was a royal pampering, I must say, as I was treated to an Arabian coffee scrub that left me refreshed for days after the massage. There was a massage, a facial and a citrus body envelopment and massage. My friends opted for the ‘Red Sea Discovery’ package that lasted two-and-a-half hours that had a citrus exfoliation with orange peel and honey. We were three happy people as we emerged from the spa experience. A truly unforgettable one!
